NaNoWriMo 2014 Update: Week 3

www.nanowrimo.org

As you'll see from this week's word counts it has been a mixed week for me, some days good, some days not so good.

Previous total: 20477

17th Nov: 1530
18th Nov: 1712
19th Nov: 3994
20th Nov: 2294
21st Nov: 1120
22nd Nov: 0
23rd Nov: 4935

Week total: 15585

Grand total: 36062 words

Due to the fact I started jumping from scene to scene I'm starting to get confused as to what I have left to write as I decided to be a pantster. I think this will only really be rectified in the editing stage so what I'm doing now if I can't think of I scene I need to, or want to, write I'm trying a short story instead. Although so far anything different I've written has been linked in some way to my actual novel.

But now we're on to the final furlong!

NaNoWriMo 2014 Update - Week 2

Whoever said that week 2 of NaNoWriMo was tough was not lying.

I will give you my word counts for the week and then explain.

Week 1 total: 7563

10th Nov: 453
11th Nov: 1764
12th Nov: 1744
13th Nov: 1824
14th Nov: 1996
15th Nov: 1681
16th Nov: 3452

Week total: 12914

Grand total: 20477 words

As you can see I'm still behind given that we are over halfway through the month but I have yet to hit halfway word count wise.

Anyway this week has been tough. From Monday (10th) to Thursday (13th) every word I wrote was like pulling teeth.

I went from "What I have written is complete crap" to "I ought to be ashamed calling myself a writer".

In the end I have had to stop writing this festering pile of crap novel in chronological order. I'm now just writing whichever scene appeals to me at that moment. So in order not to get too lost I've made a list of scenes I need to write and started changing the font colours so I remember that it doesn't follow on.

And it is taking me twice as long to type now because my typing has gone to hell. I have to keep going back to change things.

I know what you're thinking - "don't edit, just write it", but if I don't do back and change things I will have no idea what I meant when it comes to editing.

It is almost as though the entire keyboard has been moved ever so slightly over to the right and the space key is on a 1 second delay.

So simple sentences written at NaNoWriMo speed tend to end up looking like this:

Helo, I;m asomple sentenne.

Do you know what that was supposed to say? (Hello, I'm a simple sentence.) Where the hell did that third "n" in sentence come from? "C" and "N" aren't even next to each other!

But like last week I haven't got the time to sit around chatting unfortunately - no I've got to go and bang my head against a wall for a bit!

NaNoWriMo 2014 Update

NaNoWriMo 2014 started over a week ago and so now I shall give you my first update on how I'm doing.

I didn't update you last week as we were only three days in so there wasn't much to report.

So here are my word counts for the last nine days (not including today because the night is still young!)

1st Nov: 0
2nd Nov: 1959
3rd Nov: 720
4th Nov: 1039
5th Nov: 0
6th Nov: 0
7th Nov: 0
8th Nov: 2147
9th Nov: 1698

Total: 7563 words.

So as you can see I'm a little *ahem* behind. I have an excuse for 1st November - I went out at 8.45am and didn't return to the house until about 10.45pm.

And as for the other three days that I wrote nothing... well I have no excuse.

So I have some catching up to do. And then today I had that annoying thing when another idea that was whirling round my head decided to start prodding me for attention. Not even the same genre as what I'm writing for NaNo. So I had to write some notes on it so I could forget about it.

But anyway, as you can see from my total at the moment I do not have time to hang around chatting - there's writing to be done!
