Fortnightly Writing - Creatively Speaking

 Things are changing...

I said a couple of weeks ago... or a month ago... I forget.

Anyway I mentioned sometime in the recentish past that I was thinking of ways to try and do things differently round this here blog.

And during this week whilst I brainstorming for a story (I don't so much have a story as I do an image in my mind from the story so I was writing bits down... and now I'm waiting for them to evolve) and I... well I've no idea where the end of this sentence is going - some writer huh?

Long story short I realised that I have a number of creative outputs besides writing. And sometimes these other creative outputs are... put... out... more than writing.

Due to my thumb/wrist injury a month or so ago now (which is getting better thanks to my thumb brace I might add - which is much better than the splint I made out of an emery board and some medical tape! See - more creativity) I haven't been in the mood to write as much... even though it was my wrist and not my head that hurt.

I did have a go at left handed sewing (I mentioned that as a possibility in a previous post) which was agonisingly slow. Although I think becoming ambidextrous may be useful in the future - my left handed handwriting is neater and I can easily use a computer mouse with either hand now - don't even have to think about it any more.

You may have noticed (and as demonstrated by the title of this post) that my 'Weekly Writing' posts have become a bit erratic and I have felt that as I haven't been writing I haven't had anything to post about.

But all that is about to change.

Are you still with me? Hello? Oh good you are still here - you've got a good attention span there...

I have decided to broaden the subject of this blog so it encompasses all my creative past times as well as writing. I'm not quite sure how weekly posts will go just yet - but don't worry, you're still going to get your NaNoWriMo Countdown on Monday.

I'm redesigning this blog (including a fancy new header and name) and I hope to get it sorted over the week end so when you get here for the countdown on Monday you'll be able to see the new look I've given it... and the slightly cheesy blog title.

I'm not that technologically minded... and kind of lazy... so at this point the actual web address will be staying as it is - it took me long enough to remember how to make my own blog header, so changing the actual web address would probably take some time.

So this blog will still be about my writing but it will also be about other things I get up to on occasion e.g. card making, sewing, drawing, almost destroying a hat (you heard me!), cross-stitch - although I haven't cross-stitched in a while.

So hopefully I will see you on Monday with a brand new look and set up... for this blog anyway.

And just a reminder - Google Reader will be no more on Monday, but you can still follow me via the buttons at the top of my blog including Bloglovin which I find a very good way of keeping track of the blogs.

And finally congratulations to any of you who are still reading this now, you truly do have the world's greatest attention span... I don't think I could have made it this long!

Til Monday... (hopefully)

Weekly Writing - Starting To Return To Normal... Kind Of

Well the reason I didn't post last week was the same reason that I didn't post three weeks ago as I mentioned in this post two weeks ago.

My wrist is still improving - slow and steady wins the race. Or in my case slow and steady with moments of madness when I type, peel vegetables, play on the PS3 and undo all the improvement my wrist has recently made.

But in other news I have been reading about writing... and not just blog posts.

I'm currently reading Rachel Aaron's 2,000 To 10,000: How To Write Faster, Write Better, And Write More Of What You Love. So far it's good - I'm definitely learning something from it.

And then of course there were blog posts that I also read about writing over the last couple of weeks:

If Your Manuscript Could Talk - Elspeth Antonelli @ Blood-Red Pencil

Ten Stupid Writer Tricks (That Might Actually Work) - Chuck Wendig @ Terrible Minds

And then also by Chuck Wendig @ Terrible Minds this week was a series of posts. Well the first one concerns writing and publishing. And then the two posts that followed it were Chuck's response to other people's responses to the first post... if that makes any sense whatsoever. Anyway if you've got a few minutes you might find it interesting.
