Weekly Writing - Not Long Now

Another week is done and I’m inching ever closer to song number 30 in the 30 Day Shuffle (which by the end of it will have taken me a smidgen over two months to complete). I am now wanting to get fully back in to the editing scene and the planning for NaNoWriMo scene (oh yes we start planning early this year at this blog). So I’m glad that it is now approaching the end of the challenge.

Songs 24 to 27 are up to be heard (Some of them have bad language - just warning you).

Song Number 24

Do It Like Dude – Jessie J

Song Number 25

Knock ‘Em Out – Lily Allen

Song Number 26

Dance With Me Tonight – Olly Murs

Song Number 27

Rule The World – Take That

So what will the last three songs be? Only time will tell...

Weekly Writing - Nearly There & Planning

I’m beginning to approach the end of the 30 Day Shuffle.
I managed four this week and so there are only seven songs to go until I hit the big 3-0!
And then it will be back to The Great Edit.
So this week’s songs are:
Song Number 20
The Edge Of Glory – Lady Gaga

Song Number 21
Since U Been Gone – Kelly Clarkson

Song Number 22

Firework – Katy Perry

Song Number 23

When I Grow Up – Pussycat Dolls

Some of you out there are up to your elbows in the first session of Camp NaNoWriMo but I’m already planning for November.

I’m in two minds on what to write – it’s a question of genre really. I was thinking of taking the basic premise and main character of last years NaNo and rewriting the whole thing how I originally was going to do it… and actually plan this time. (Shock! Horror!)

Last year I had a vague idea – it was a paranormal urban fantasy type of deal. But then I decided to just go with the flow. Which left me with a story that was ok but had a very cheesy, vomit inducing, rushed, walk-off-in-to-the-sunset ending.

And I think if I had gone with my original idea it wouldn’t have ended up like Buffy The Vampire Slayer gone wrong.

So that is one option; a complete and utter rewrite where only the MC’s name and the basic premise remain the same.

The other option is steampunk (well two steampunk ideas actually which I don’t think would combine all that well… although I could give it a whirl, I suppose).

So anyway the other idea is steampunk.

But I’m not sure which appeals to me the most.

So if you are still with me after that long ramble through songs, Nanos and genres – well done to you – and could you wander over to the poll on the left and tell me which genre you think I should go for?

Weekly Writing - A Long Week

This week seems to have dragged on and on… but I don’t seem to have got a lot done this week either.

I’m still shuffling though so here are the songs for this week:

Song Number 17

Star Trekkin’ - The Firm

I told you I was eclectic didn't I? This is the closest I get to Star Trek – being more of a Wars fan than a Trekkie.

Song Number 18

Cry Me A River – Michael Buble

I always think that this song would make a great Bond movie theme song. You just need silhouettes of women and guns… and Daniel Craig!

Song Number 19

I Need A Dollar - Aloe Blacc

And whilst I was travelling through the blogosphere this week I came across this post from Sylvia at Playful Creative - Someday is Now

It was as like she was talking directly to me.

Weekly Writing - The Hunt Is On!

I only managed two songs towards the 30 Day Shuffle this week but we'll get to that in a minute.

My current laptop is about four years old now and for about a year it has occasionally randomly overheated and one of the hinges has been coming apart.

These two problems have recently gotten worse... so I'm doing a bit of reconnaissance on the laptop front.

What fun!

So back to the shuffle. The two songs for the week were:

Song Number 15

Read All About It - Professor Green ft. Emeli Sande

Song Number 16

And to keep you on your toes here's a link to Chuck Wendig's Secret To Writing...

Til next week - toodle-oo!

Weekly Writing: Tis The First Of June

June has arrived!

Now you may remember me mentioning that I was going to stop having Inspirational Tunes on the first of every month but I would replace them with something else.

Now under normal circumstances I would have had a separate first of the month post. However as I have already posted my Collage Of Inspiration post today, I thought three posts in one day might make you a little sick of me.

So the first of my new first of every month’s posts will be thrown in with my Weekly Writing post today… but normally it will have its own post.

So now the explanations are over I will now proceed to send you in to a panic. My new first of the month posts are to be (and if you read my post the other week you will already know):

Yes you are right the first session of Camp NaNoWriMo did only start up today, but as I seem to work better in the dismal dankness of November I’m looking ahead to that one.

And NaNoWriMo 2012 starts up in just:

153 DAYS!

Doesn’t sound much like that does it? Five months sounds a lot further away than 153 days.

So on to my weekly writing. There isn’t much to report. I am still doing the 30 Day Shuffle. However this week I have only managed to get one story done.

So the song this week (song number 14) is:

A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square

This is my favourite song as sung by Bobby Darin and it took me most of the week to come up with a story.
I get the distinct impression that subconsciously I was stalling on this one. Pretending that I couldn’t think of anything to write so that I could keep this song whirling around in my head all week.
But I got something in the end… slightly corny given that it involves the Ritz and Berkeley Square… and angels... and nightingales...

I shall now leave you in a blind panic as NaNoWriMo slowly advances towards us, whilst you sing A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square to yourself for the next week!

Til next week…
