Weekly Writing - All Ready For Sunday?

No, me neither.

On Sunday (1st January) 100k In 100 Days begins. I have a list of ideas to write about... but I don't know if they'll last me until 9th April. We'll have to wait and see.

I'm also considering taking part in the A To Z Blogging Challenge in April next year on my other blog (I know I'm insane - it won't even count towards my word count!).

I took part last year and I discovered a lot of blogs I may not have otherwise known about... but that is something for my other blog... and if I haven't driven myself completely mad by trying to write 100,000 words in 100 days!

So in next week's Weekly Writing I should have some actual writing to report to you.

Wonders will never cease!

Weekly Writing - Holding Out For New Year

Given that I am taking part in 100k In 100 Days I haven't seen much point in writing much before the New Year.

So I've mainly been writing lists - lists of things I can write, things I want to buy in the January sales, lists of blog posts I need to write etc.

I am actually really looking forward to it now (100k In 100 Days). On Talkback there was recently a thread about our writing goals for 2012. I've put that I want to take part in 100k In 100 Days and then edit NaNos 2010 and 2011 (I've been stuck on page 13 of NaNo 2010 since January!)

That's all I'm committing myself to for now. I don't know if I will take part in NaNoWriMo or Camp NaNoWriMo in 2012 - I might do, I might not.

We will just have to wait and see.

Can't really see me doing any actual writing in the next week - but I'll still check in with you all next Friday... then there will only be two days to go until 100k In 100 Days kicks off!

Weekly Writing - Busy, Busy, Busy... Kind Of

All I seem to have done this week is scribble down possible 100k in 100 days ideas and write blog posts.

I decided to write a list of all the blog posts I want to write before the beginning of 100k in 100 days (because they don't count so I might as well get some of them out of the way). And in total I had a list of eleven posts to write before 1st January, for both this blog and my other blog.

So I've been working my way through the list this week (at the same time as making Christmas cards and spending far too much time on the PS3!)

But I have a couple of links to share with you.

One is advice on rejection - Terrible Minds brings you 25 Things Writers Should Know About Rejection

And the other is a bit of light relief - It's A Mystery presents 10 Reasons I Can't Write Right Now

Weekly Writing - Ideas & Recovery

Nothing much to report this week. I'm still feeling the effects of NaNoWriMo - still making endless typing mistakes. So everything I type takes twice as long as usual because I have to go back and correct it all!

But other than re-learning to type I've been trying to come up with some ideas for the sort of thing I can write about if I take part in Sally's 100k in 100 days. Yes I am still claiming to be just thinking about taking part when in reality it is more than likely that I'll take part.

I just say if so I can back out at the last second if absolutely necessary :)

So did anyone manage to write anything this week or, like me, are you still recovering from NaNo?

Weekly Writing - NaNo Is Over!

Here we are in December - NaNoWriMo is officially over. Ok so it was over a couple of days ago but you get the idea. And I finished!!! A day early. I couldn't believe I finished a day early especially seen as I hadn't been ahead since day 3!

So my word counts for the end of NaNoWriMo:

Friday 25th: 2176
Saturday 26th: 1324
Sunday 27th: 4150
Monday 28th: 3030
Tuesday 29th: 3875
Wednesday 30th: 0

Total for week: 14555

Grand Total: 50,055 words.

Just look what an approaching deadline does to your daily word counts.

And now I have December to recover before I decide whether or not to take part in something else.

Sally over at Quiller's Place is hosting 100k in 100 Days from 1st January to 9th April. Yes you read that right - 100,000 words in 100 days! Less words a day than NaNoWriMo but twice as many to come up with.

There are some rules about what can and cannot be included:

"You don’t have to be writing a novel. You can write pretty much anything you want, with a few no-nos.
What’s included in the 100k:
Novels
Novellas
Short stories
Poetry
Non-fiction (including full length books or articles).
Guest blog posts (that is commissioned posts for a blog that is not your own).
You may combine your 100k total from any or all of the above.
What’s not included:
Blog posts on your personal blog (sorry, but that’s too easy)
Blog comments or online discussions
Twitter posts
FB status updates
emails and/or letters to friends and acquaintances.
So basically the 100k needs to be creative writing, whether you’re writing a novel, short story, poem or an article about the things you know best."

So that is what I'm thinking about - frightening isn't it?

How has your writing gone this week? Did you take part in NaNo?
